Quality & compliance
The boring stuff, done properly.
Wholesale isn’t just about price. If a label is wrong, an allergen is missing, or a lot can’t be traced, that’s the retailer’s problem. We treat the compliance work as our problem, not yours.
Standards we work to
UK and EU food law is the baseline, not the goal.
As a UK food-business operator, we comply with the requirements of the Food Safety Act 1990, retained EU food law as applied in Great Britain (Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 and successors), and the labelling rules set out in the Food Information Regulations 2014.
In practice that means: every product we wholesale carries a compliant English label or has a compliant overlabel applied at our warehouse; allergen declarations are verified against the source ingredient list; lot codes are preserved through the supply chain; and any product we cannot evidence as compliant doesn’t go out on an order.
Where products originate outside the UK, we act as the importer of record and handle the relevant import notifications, customs clearance, and duty/VAT settlement — so your invoice is the landed cost.
Traceability
Every consignment we receive is recorded with supplier reference, lot codes, and date of receipt. If a manufacturer issues a recall, we can identify within minutes every trade customer that received that lot and notify them. We’ve built our warehouse system around “one-up, one-down” traceability as required by Article 18 of EC 178/2002.
Allergens
The 14 major allergens listed in Annex II of FIR 1169/2011 (as retained in GB law) are checked against ingredient declarations on every line we onboard. Where a label is in another EU language, we apply an English overlabel to FIC-compliant standards before the case leaves us — and you receive the English label, not a translation note.
Non-food household lines
Cleaning chemicals are supplied with current safety data sheets (SDS) where the category requires it under the GB CLP regulations. Personal-care lines comply with the Cosmetic Products Enforcement Regulations 2013 (as retained). Where a product is outside our scope to certify (e.g. medicinal products), we simply don’t carry it.
Recalls
In the rare event of a recall, we’ll contact every customer who received the affected lot by phone and in writing within the same working day, with details of the recall, the action we’re taking, and how a refund or replacement will be handled. Our standing process matches the FSA’s recall guidance.
